Teen counseling usually begins with an initial session to understand your teen’s concerns, goals, and what they are hoping to get out of counseling. Sessions are one-on-one and take place in a safe, private counselling space where teens can talk openly about mental health, relationships, school, or other challenges affecting daily life.
As a trained teen therapist, I understand that this can be a challenging time for both you and your child. My goal is to support both of you by providing a safe, neutral space where your teen can feel heard and you can feel supported as a parent.
Together, we will work toward reducing conflict, improving communication, and helping your teenager navigate the complexities of growing up with more confidence and ease.

Paul Cellarius (RCC, CCC, MA)
I work with teens who feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or stuck, and who are trying to make sense of what they are experiencing during an important stage of life. In my work with adolescents, I focus on creating a calm, grounded space where they feel respected and able to speak openly.
My training is in depth psychology through Pacifica Graduate Institute, and I am also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing. I have worked with adolescents in school and community settings, and I aim to be steady and attentive, especially when emotions are strong. When helpful, I also support parents in understanding how best to support their teen outside of counseling.
Teen therapy helps with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. It provides a safe space to express emotions, develop coping skills, and navigate life’s changes.
If your teen is struggling with mood swings, isolation, academic decline, anger, or risky behaviors, therapy can provide support and guidance. Major life changes or trauma can also be reasons to seek help.
Yes, therapists respect confidentiality, but they may share concerns with parents if there’s a risk of harm. Many therapists encourage open communication while maintaining a teen’s trust.
Teen counselling typically supports adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18, with sessions tailored to each teen’s developmental stage, needs, and concerns.
